چکیده

The strong interest in the coherent generation and guiding of x rays is well known. Many papers have recently appeared treating different concepts of stimulated x-ray emissions, 1-3 and x-ray guiding in thin films was achieved. 4 Crystals were suggested as end reflectors to generate feedback.' Here we suggest a different type of cavity using zeolite crystals that would guide the emitted x-rays and at the same time generate the necessary feedback for self-sustained oscillation. Zeolite crystals5-7 are aluminosilicate porous structures, commonly termed molecular sieves, with one-, two-, or three-dimensional channels having minimum pore diameters of 3-12 A. These channels are formed by the juncture of larger sodalite cage units that are arranged with a peri-

Second harmonic generation at 972 nm using a distributed Bragg reflection semiconductor laser

We have doubled the frequency of a single mode distributed Bragg reflection (DBR) semiconductor laser. The laser is optically locked to an external enhancement ring resonator that contains an antireflection coated potassium niobate crystal. Unlike Fabry-Perot cavity lasers the DBR laser is found to operate in only one longitudinal mode and allows stable second harmonic generation. We present th...

Passive microring-resonator-coupled lasers

In this letter, a passive microring-resonator-coupled semiconductor laser structure is proposed. The weakly coupled high-Q microring resonator provides a strong mode-selection filter and could considerably extend the effective cavity length of a conventional Fabry–Perot laser. The side-mode suppression ratio, the linewidth and the frequency chirp of this laser are dramatically improved comparin...

Compositional Profile of Graded VCSEL DBRs

The compositional profile of graded distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) in vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) is investigated. Molecular flux measurements allow to determine small differences between the nominal profile and the epitaxially grown structures. These small differences explain completely the suppression of the higher-order satellites in the HRXRD (high-resolution x-ray...

Coherent coupling of two-dimensional arrays of defect cavities in photonic crystal vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers

An approach for creating two-dimensional arrays of coherently coupled vertically emitting laser cavities is demonstrated. This is achieved by creating a 232 array of defect cavities within the top distributed Bragg reflector of a photonic crystal vertical cavity surface-emitting laser. The optical coupling occurs laterally through coupling regions defined between the defect cavities. Modifying ...
